Thank you for that Kim. I'm in Texas which feels like Trump's dream come true right now.
Our state Republican legislature managed to ban Democrats from chairing committees. More division, as if there weren't enough already. Feeling and needing the power of the dreams and neighbors...we're not alone. There is hope. Hope needs a plan, as Brene Brown says, and I am making mine.
Dreamers and Neighbors…good people all around us. Ill think about that when despair might knock on the door. And I’ll tell Zoe too. We will dream big together❤️
I have so many thoughts and feelings about today that I find it hard to put into words. I was at work which was a good distraction and I focused on the lifting of MLK's words and efforts and tuned out anything related to the inauguration.
I also started a quilting project I'm calling 1461 days. That is how many days it is until the next inauguration. A resistance project. One piece a day for 1461 days. And at the end of it, a quilt to remind me that I survived it and no matter what happened something beautiful came out of it.
Wow, Carrie, what an incredible idea. Inspired and inspiring. Perhaps at some point, you can share some of the finished squares in this space? Thank you for sharing.
Also, if you know of any good community/food related things happening in LanCo or ChesCo or where to go to stay in the loop on that kind of thing, I'd love to know. I still love your LanCo farm stand guide, it was a great primer for me when I moved here from the PNW 3.5 years ago.
Carrie, sewing is one thing I have never learned. Truly. I'm so impressed. Hmmm re: good community/food related things -- maybe we should connect one on one, plan something for the spring?

Gina, thank you for checking in. It got deep real fast. The thing about dreams -- they do come true if we let them. So let's do it.

Tell Zoe she is welcome to share her thoughts, dreams, whatever's on her mind in this space anytime...

Thanks Kim. I'm documenting it here: https://1461days.substack.com/

Thank you. Good nuggets to read on a tough day...and a reminder that noone can take away hope.
Also: No one can take away your dignity. Take good care.
